Leasmom - Mmm, that was very interesting about Columbus. I've never heard anything about it before.

Jayne - I agree with you about how if you want to make something evil you can.

We celebrate Halloween, but the kids go trick or treating, actually they call it trunk or treating in the church parking lot (half a block down) We bring our cars over about 5pm, set up the trunk with the treats, decorated a little, then the parking lot entrances are closed off, and the kids go around and trunk or treat. We usually have about 250 kids. Last year I ordered a bunch of things from Oriental Traders and the kids just loved them, we have enough left for this year too. My kids usually wear costumes that aren't scary. Chauncey is going to be Harry Potter and Sloan is going to be a ballerina. My bil use to work at a big haunted house, and he'd give us free tickets every year. It really bothered me how the people that worked there were really into trying to scare people really bad. I don't think that's a thing to be proud of doing, and I won't ever go to another one. Halloween has gotten to be so commercial these days! Oh, after the trunk or treating, they have a hot dog dinner, then the youth usually do a carnival for the kids, so it's a real full evening. I don't take the kids out door to door anymore, and I don't give anything at my door, because all the neighborhood kids should have been at the trunk or treating, but we always get people who drop of car loads of kids, and they come to the door and ring the bell even when all the outdoor lights are off!
