I think that was started to ward off evil spirits wasn't it? Your costumes were supposed to scare off the evil spirits. My neighbor doesn't celebrate either and sorry, Czechlady but it's a little sad. The little boy is so saddened by this, they won't even allow a pumpkin... he told my husband the other day he didn't think it was fair. He's I think 7. My dh told him, well you can enjoy mine. I don't know what their religion is, I know they don't go to church, they don't celebrate Christmas either or birthdays.
