I'm sorry this is so late. I just ran across this thread.
I have had foot surgery for spurs on the backs of my feet--Hagland's fdeformities--and all I can say is DON'T DO IT!!! Once your feet are cut on they are never the same. I have constant foot pain now that is complicated by plantat fascitis and in recent years neuropathy. I don't know that the surgery caused it but it sure doesn't help me. I also now have a neuroma (inflamed bundle of nerves) under the toes on my left foot. Been there, done this before years ago. It's easy to fix. Last time I had a shot of cortisone into the spot and was normal and pain free in short order.
However I sincerely suggest you try anything but surgery on your feet. Trust me--I've been there.
