I used to buy braided garlic from the French Market for years and just hang them in the kitchen and grabbed one when I needed it. How they go about braiding the garlic is a puzzle to me, but you just have to pull and one comes off at a time. Since I don't drive anymore and have no man friend, I have to buy my garlic at the grocery now. Don't put it in the fridge. Keep out in sight. I don't know about the placing in dark stuff. I don't see what that could do to it, but I'm going back to read that link and see what they say. Garlic is a staple in Louisiana, you just gotta have it to cook with. Good luck!
