New Indoor Ropes Course Opens at Wilderness Resorts
by Amanda Formaro

Waterparks have grown exponentially in popularity over the past several years. They've become a favorite travel destination, especially during the winter months when families need to escape the cold weather to go for ride down a water slide or float around in a lazy river. Waterpark resorts aren't just for swimming though. They offer a wide variety of games and attractions for all ages and sizes.

The Wilderness Resort is an industry leader when it comes to family fun. Their newest attraction is an indoor ropes course suspended above the game room where kids and adults alike can test their balancing skills. Guests are harnessed in 30 feet above the Northern Lights Mega Arcade and can climb through 42 challenges in varying degrees. For $9.00 you can spend 30 full minutes climbing the different levels and exploring the entire course. For guests that purchase the Wilderness Resort's Wild Fun and Extreme Fun Discount Passes, admission is alreay included.

Weight and age restrictions do apply. Guests must be at least 48" inches tall, weigh less than 300 pounds and wear a full-body safety harnesses in order to participate in this attraction.

We had the opportunity to try the ropes course first hand. Our three boys ranged in age from 13 to 15, but kids of all ages and plenty of adults were enjoying themselves on the course as well. It's fun to watch from a spectator's point of view as well.

When you enter the Wild West Waterpark you will see the ropes course immediately. There's a railed walkway that allows guests to pass through the game area, watching the ropes course as they travel through to the waterpark. This is also a great place for parents to watch and take pictures as their kids explore the fun attraction.

Here's a video of the ropes course, though it's not the entire thing. It extends across the walkway to another side over by the ball pit.

The boys really enjoyed it. They stayed up for the full 30 minutes, even my 15 year old who isn't crazy about heights. In my opinion, it's definitely worth the $9.00 admission and something the older kids can do while the young set are downstairs in the ball pit with mom or dad.

Below is a short video of Dominic demonstrating how you guide yourself through the ropes course:
