Story Land in New Hampshire - pg. 2

After the pool, the kids headed downstairs to the game room and the indoor theatre. Linnea explained to me that they always show a G-rated movie in the indoor theatre room but that there were other movies to borrow to play in the DVD player back in the room if we wanted to watch something later on after the kids went to sleep. I almost fell off one of several comfy couches in the theater room when she offered my son and I some popcorn.

comfy sitting roomI kept wondering if this reasonably priced inn was for real. It had all of the amenities of a larger hotel yet all the comforts of home (actually more comforts than home - including organic chocolate bars in each room every night). The rooms were clean and comfortable with air-conditioning and personal refrigerators. This inn not only offered rooms in the main inn but also townhouses and townsuites to accommodate larger families and groups.

We started our next morning with a tasty waffle breakfast made by both Rod and Linnea and another swim in the pool. We then set out in the nearby town of North Conway to tire the kids with a short hike and lunch before giving them a nap. Story Land has a great way to accommodate families with young children who are still taking their afternoon nap. On any day during regular summer hours, you can arrive at 3 p.m. and stay until the park closes at 6 p.m. and then return for a full-day the next day, all for the price of a one-day ticket. This was a great plan for us since we planned to stay at the park the next day until nap time and then drive home while the kids napped. As a result, we were able to do a full day at the park but break it into two half days.

This theme park that focuses on families with children from ages 2 to 12 was perfect for our family with a four-and-a-half-year-old and a two-and-a-half year old. From the moment we entered the park and the kids found Humpty Dumpty sitting on a wall, they were thrilled. All afternoon we enjoyed the rides that are designed for parents to be able to ride with their children. We rode antique cars and flying Dutch shoes. One of our only ride restrictions affected me and not the children. They went on the Bamboo Chutes a log flume ride with Daddy where they got quite wet. Since I was pregnant, I was not allowed on this ride but happily stayed on the sidelines where I could take some photos of the kids getting wet with Daddy.
