Craft Supplies

  Tombstone Sandwiches - pg. 2
by Tami Rose

NOTE: If you missed the first page of this recipe, use the "previous page" button at the bottom of the instructions or click here to start from the beginning.

Now that your supplies are at the ready and your work surface has been prepared, let's begin!

What You Do

If using meats and cheeses - assemble the sandwiches using 2 piece of bread for each sandwich. Cut sandwich in half vertically. Using a sharp knife, trim the crust from the sandwich and round off the top of the bread to resemble a tombstone.

If using peanut butter & jelly - it is easier to stack 2 pieces of bread together, trim the crusts from the bread, and round the tops of the bread before filling it with peanut butter and jelly. Once the trimming is complete, spread the fillings onto the bread being careful not to overfill each sandwich.

Color the softened cream cheese with the black food coloring. Spoon into a plastic baggie and seal. Slightly snip off one end of the baggie, creating an icing bag. Write funny names on the tombstones. Mustard or Ketchup can easily be substituted for the cream cheese.

If making these ahead of time, make sure to place the sandwiches into a tightly sealed container and refrigerate them until your are ready to eat.

Some suggestions for names on the tombstones:

Hally Ween
Ima Gonner
R. U. Next
Will B. Back
M. T. Boks
