Now that your supplies are at the ready and your work surface has been prepared, let's begin!
What You Do
Bring roll of sugar cookies to room temperature or make you favorite sugar cookie recipes. If using the nutmeg or cinnamon, mix into the sugar cookie dough. These spices add a nice change up to the ordinary sugar cookie.
Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to ¼ inch thick. If using a star of david cookie cutter, cut out cookies and place on ungreased cookie sheet. If using a triangle cookie cutter, lightly press the triangle into the dough –just enough to make an outline of the triangle. Make sure not to press completely through the dough. Flip the triangle upside down and press down over the first triangle impression—again making sure not to cut through the dough. Take a knife and trim around the 6 points of the “star” that you have created. Gently lift each cookie with a spatula and place on a cookie sheet.

Bake as directed, making sure the cookies do not brown. Cool the cookies completely before icing.
At this point, the cookies can be frozen for use at another time. Layer cookies between waxed paper in a sealed container. Thaw before icing.
