  Chinese Lantern Cookies - pg. 2

Now that your supplies are at the ready and your work surface has been prepared, let's begin!

What You Do

Roll out cookies on lightly floured surface. Use the cookie cutters to cut out shapes. (Refer to picture for ideas)

Bake cookies as directed according to package or your recipe. Remove cookies to cooling racks and allow to completely cool.

Stir 1 tsp almond extract into the can of vanilla icing. Divide the icing into 2 bowls, coloring one bowl bright yellow and the other bowl red..

Frost all of the cookies with the red icing. Use the yellow icing to add decorations to the cookies. (again, refer to the picture for ideas)
Using a pair of scissors, trim the fruit leathers into fringes and streamers. “Glue” onto the cookie with icing.




** The red icing and Chinese writing on the cookies both represent luck..
