Mix up the entertainment at your child’s summer party by engaging your guests with a few summertime crafts, too. Consider letting your guests make edible sand art using little glass bottles and Pixie Stix or a Candy Sand Castles kit, or try one of these other fun craft ideas:

Funky Flip Flops - Give each guest a pair of flip flops and an assortment of decorations, like stick-on jewels, glitter glue, puffy shirt paints, stamps, jingle bells, embroidery thread, and colorful permanent markers. Give your guests 20 - 30 minutes to design their funky flip flops, then let the kids have a mini fashion show. For added fun, give your guests hats, sunglasses, leis, grass skirts, and other beach attire to wear during the fashion show.
Sand Art - Older children will enjoy traditional sand art done with colored sand, funnels, and little glass bottles. Give younger children beach-themed coloring sheets with a simple design, and then help them "color" them in section-by-section with glue and colored sand.
Cardboard Sandcastle - This makes a great group project. Before the party, collect toilet paper tubes, paper towel tubes, shoe boxes, and other bits of cardboard. At the party, let your guests build a giant cardboard sandcastle-or individual mini sandcastles, if you have sufficient supplies-with the cardboard you've collected and craft glue. Provide craft paint and brushes, markers, stickers, glitter glue, colorful construction paper, and glue so your guests can decorate their creation(s).
Ocean Treasures - Provide your guests with an assortment of shells, beads with an ocean theme, and thread, and let the kids make ocean-themed bracelets and necklaces to take home as a fun party keepsake.
