Halloween is a time for children to be creative and original! Encourage your child’s inner ghost or goblin by throwing a frighteningly fun Halloween party! We've compiled a variety of fun Halloween party ideas, including decorations, treats, and activities that are sure to thrill your ghoulish guests.
Halloween Party Invitations and Planning
Your first decision will be when to have your Halloween party. This is always trickiest when you are planning a kids’ Halloween party, since so many children have more than one party to attend, and usually also have family engagements. For instance, for a Halloween party, be aware that many children go trick-or-treating with family or friends on Halloween night, so you may want to hold your party the day or weekend before Halloween.
Halloween provides a great excuse to be extra creative with invitations. If you have the time to make your own invitations, try one of these spooky suggestions:

Ghost Invitation – Place a white handkerchief out on a table and write the invitation information in a spiral around the edges, making sure to leave the center white. When done, wrap the handkerchief around a lollipop (written side out). Fasten with a ribbon or rubber band at the neck of the lollipop and dot two eyes with a black felt tip marker. Send your ghost invitation in a padded envelope.
Bat Invitation – Cut a bat shape out of black construction paper. Cut the same bat shape, but about ½” smaller, out of orange construction paper. Write your invitation information on the orange bat and paste it onto the black bat. Fold your invitation in half, sprinkle a little black and orange confetti in the middle, and mail your guests a fun surprise!
Skeleton Invitation – Punch a hole in the corner of a card-style invitation, and tie it with black, orange, or red string to a small toy skeleton. Send the invitation in a padded envelope.
Candy Invitation – Hide card-style invitations in small jars filled with candy corn (pickle jars or small jelly jars work well). Hand deliver your invitations to each guest.
Gravestone Invitation – Cut small gravestone shapes out of ½-inch thick sheets of Styrofoam. In big black letters print R.I.P. on one side. On the other, write your invitation information. Send your invitations in padded envelopes.
In all these invitation ideas, make sure to include a line that states if the party is a costume party or not. You can also purchase Birthday in a Box invitations to save you the time of making them yourself.
