  Back to School Party

Help your kids get ready for a new school year by hosting a back to school party! Let them reconnect with school friends by inviting last year’s classmates or say goodbye to summer with all their neighborhood pals. We can help with tips for choosing a theme, food, decorations, party favors, and fun back-to-school games and crafts.

Back-to-School Party Themes

Choosing decorations and games for your back-to-school party is easier if you’ve decided on a theme. For really young children, choose primary colors like yellow, blue and red, or a pattern like Little Einsteins. For kids in elementary school, choose a party pattern related to school, such as High School Musical. Whichever back-to-school theme you choose, Birthday in a Box has matching partyware to set the stage for a memorable party!

Back-to-School Party Decorations

Decorate the party area with stacks of books, large maps, and a globe. Hang streamers that match your partyware, or use primary colors like yellow, blue and red. Cover a table in white craft paper, and set out containers of crayons and markers. As guests arrive, let them draw on the craft paper, play word games like hangman, or hunt for words in a back-to-school word search.

Use a big bowl of apples as your centerpiece and surround the bowl with new pencils and cute erasers. Then, set the table with partyware that matches your theme. For another fun touch, put a pencil and eraser set at each place setting and let your guests take them home. Hang a colorful pinata that matches your theme. Later it will become an activity when the kids break it open.

Your decorations should definitely include colorful balloons. Start with star-shaped Mylar balloons and add latex balloons to make clusters of five. Attach the balloons to balloon weights or heavy books and set the clusters throughout the party area.
