Make this cute basket for May Day and fill it with tasty treats. Set it on a doorstep, ring the door bell, and run as fast as you can! This surprise gift makes an adorable gesture this spring.
You will need
craft foam, green and white
pom poms in different shapes and colors
chenille sticks in pink, purple and yellow
hot glue gun
Cut out a large square from the green craft foam. From that square, cut another square out of one of the corners. Place the foam in front of you, the cut out small square should be at the top, square should be positioned as a diamond on the table. Grasp both small corners where you cut out the small square from and bring them together, overlapping slightly, to form a cone shaped basket. Hot glue in place. This is the front of your basket. Trim the back of your basket so that it is flat. Cut a piece of white craft foam into a square large enough to cover the front of the basket and glue in place (see photo).
Use pom poms and craft foam to make small insects, animals and flowers to glue all over the basket. Ideas include ladybugs, inchworms, chicks, turtles, and ducks.
Glue animals and flowers to the basket, on the front, walking along the edges, etc.
Line up the three chenille sticks and braid or twist together to make your basket handle. Poke small holes into the side ofthe basket and put the ends of the handle through. Bend the ends upward to lock in place.
Fill basket with fresh picked flowers, candy and/or other treats and hang on your friend's doorknob. Ring the doorbell or knock on the door and run to hide!
