Floral Trinket Box
by Amanda Formaro

Click here for a larger view
Looking for a fun Mother's Day craft to make for Mom or Grandma? This pretty little box is not only lovely it's also useful! A great container, this pretty gift will hold cherished jewelry, car keys, extra coins or other small bawbles.

You will need

Lavendar acrylic paint
paper mache or wood round box with lid, about 4-5" in diameter
white felt or faux fur
small silk flowers
12-14" pink or white sheer ribbon
hot glue gun
acrylic sealer spray (matte)

If you make this project we'd love to see it! Just send your photos and comments to the editor and it may get published on this page!

What you do

Using the bottom of the trinket box, trace a circle onto the felt or back of the faux fur. Cut the circle out on the inside of the drawing line so that the finished circle is a little smaller than the tracing, allowing it to fit inside the box and rest of the bottom.

Measure the sides of the inside of the box and cut a strip of felt or faux fur long enough to encircle the box.

Hot glue the circle to the bottom inside of the box. Hot glue the strip around the inside of the box so that the entire inside of the box is completely lined.

Paint the outside of the box with lavendar paint. Paint the outside and the inside of the lid with the lavendar paint. Repeat if needed. When completely dry, spray with acrylic sealer spray and let dry.

Cut small silk flowers from silk plants so that all you have is the heads of the flowers, no stems. Hot glue all over the lid, starting in the center and working your way outward.

Take the length of ribbon and fold it in half to find the center. Use hot glue to tack the center of the ribbon to the middle of the trinket box to hold it in place. Wrap around the box and tie into a bow in the front of the box and hot glue in place.

Place the lid on the box and you are finished!
