Traditionally we have hidden the plastic eggs around the house for our kids to find on Easter morning. Add a little creative thinking with these ideas and suddenly it takes on a new twist. With all the fun Easter-themed candies and toys, your children will delight in trying to find their basket.
Talking Eggs
Techno Source makes talking plastic eggs that can be easily found at Walmart or Target for under $10.00. These colorful eggs have built in timers for 30 minutes and will say things like "I'm over here" or "Yoo hoo." Be sure to time it right with the on-off switch. The little eggs open and have room inside for small candies or other treasures. Imagine the giggles your children will have as they search.
Treasure Hunt
Kids love treasure maps and notes with clues. You can create a fun egg hunt by leaving clues starting in their bedroom. The map or written clue should lead from one egg to the other, leading them on a hunt throughout the house. It can be as simple as using cut-out pictures from magazines, or drawing an actual map. Households with more than one child can do an individual map for each, letting each child have their own special search.
Yarn Mazes
Bring out the zaniness in your child by creating a yarn maze that leads to the basket. Tie a piece of colored yarn to a bedroom door handle and criss cross it numerous times to make the search more fun. Larger families can use different colored yarns for each child that cross over each other. Remember to plan this one in a safe area where it doesn't create tripping or choking hazards.
