We all know April Fool's Day is April 1. But did you know the origin of the holiday? Turns out it's been around for quite a while, the current thinking has it dating back to the 16th century in France. It was that year that the calendar was officially changed and New Year's Day was moved from April 1 to January 1. Well, news didn't travel fast in those days and it took a while for everyone to catch on - and also, there were those rebellious souls who chose to ignore the new calendar. They were labeled "April fools" and it became commonplace to play pranks on these unfortunate souls.

Nowadays, practical jokes are still encouraged but the best kind are all in good fun and not meant to hurt anyone's feelings or make them mad.

1. Switch salt for sugar-offer to get Dad's coffee or tea in the morning but secretly put salt in it instead of sugar (just make sure to have some fresh, unsalted coffee ready for his next cup)!

2. Find some coins and glue them to the sidewalk in a high traffic area. Then watch to see how many people try to pick them up!

3. Get a bunch of alarm clocks and set them for different times, very early in the morning (good for siblings) and hide them around your target's room!

4. Look up at the sky and point-and watch as strangers walking by try to figure out what you're looking at!

5. Put fake bugs or snakes in places people are not expecting-be creative!
