  • Basic Herb Gardening - Today, herbs are very popular and consumers have to dig deep to afford the herbs they need for tasteful healthier cooking, medicinal needs and crafts. Still, what other choice do you have?
  • Butterfly Herb Gardens - All too soon they flit here and there and then are gone. If only they would stay! They will! You can help them do just that with a butterfly herb garden.
  • Calendula & Borage: Herbs for Summer Color - Calendula and borage add color to your herb garden throughout summer with a succession of long-lasting blooms. These are two of the prettiest herbs you can grow, and they are relatively carefree. Both are annuals, but once they are established in your garden they are eager reseeders.
  • Cooking With Herbs - MMMMMM , what is that wonderful aroma? Soup ? Pot Roast? Sauce simmering on the stove? Have you ever thought about what makes that dinner cooking smell so wonderful? Consider what it would smell like without herbs and seasonings made from herbs. It would probably smell as bland as it would taste!
  • Creating a Container Herb Garden: Window and Porch Boxes - I've used a lot of containers for herbs over the years from baskets to porch boxes to large clay pots. I think the key, as with herb beds, is matching the plants that have the same needs and to be realistic about the size of the plants. You can only squeeze so much into a container and have them all do well.
  • Creating an Herb Garden: Hot, Dry & Sunny Locations - This herb garden can be located in a small or large area as long as it's in full sun and the soil is extremely well-drained to the point of being dry. It shouldn't be amended with any compost or organic matter.
  • Dill-Licious Recipes! - Dill is one of the most popular homegrown or store bought herbs around. Whether you harvest fresh dill from your garden or purchase fresh or dried dill at your local grocer, you'll enjoy these Dill-licious recipes!
  • Dream Pillows - make these wonderful pillows out of your favorite herbs.
  • Flavored Vinegar & Oils - Flavored vinegar and oils add excitement to salad marinades and sauces. They also make special gifts, provided a few simple precautions are followed.
  • Gardening Adventures With Kids - I remember the first packet of seeds my sons chose to buy at the garden center, as well as their excitement, their impatience and then their amazement as "their" flowers began to bloom.
  • Gardening in Pots - This article is about gardening in pots...in a big way. First, let's explore the benefits of gardening in pots, then we can move on to how it's done in such a way that you can produce quality vegetables and herbs.
  • Growing Your Own Tea Garden - What could be better than a hot cup of tea on a cold day, or a frosty glass of iced tea when it’s hot? How about growing your own tea! Creating an herbal tea garden can be a fun, creative addition to your plantings.
  • Harvesting and Storing Herbs - I am not going to pretend to know the proper technique for every herb out there - there are far too many! But, over the years I have gathered many harvest and storage tips that have worked for me and many other gardeners.
  • Herbal Bath Garden - There are several herbs and flowers that you can use to help soothe and relieve stress. Check out these great recipes and ideas!
  • How To Plan Your Herb Garden - An herb garden can bring a person a lot of pleasure because there's so many things that can be done with herbs such as herbal crafts, herbal teas and herbal seasonings. On top of this, you get to care and tend for the plants which, if this is all you do, is enough reason to grow an herb garden. Seeing how the herbs mingle together and enjoying their fragrance are other benefits.
  • Prepare for Seed Starting - How do you satisfy the gardening itch in the middle of winter? Easily! Start plants from seed. Now is a great time to get a jumpstart on the gardening season. Just a little preparation will help ensure you seed starting success.
  • Relax and Soothe With Herbs - Using dried and fresh herbs to relax and soothe isn't just a trick the spas use. You can do that same thing at home! I keep dried chamomile to use in the bath and for tea, as well as lavender, rosemary and mint. Herbal bath teas and bath salts are very easy to make, and if you allow yourself to experiment a little bit you will find your perfect combination!
  • Relaxing Herbal Teas - Herbal teas are not only relaxing and soothing to the spirit, but your stomach as well! Many herbs have properties to calm. Don't be so quick though as to grab any herb from the garden and make a tea. Do your research, especially if you are nursing a baby or pregnant.
  • Rosemary Christmas Trees - I love to grow things, and I especially love to have plants around the house in the winter. I really love rosemary plants and those cute little "rosemary Christmas trees," but the problem is that I always manage to kill them!
  • Starting a Vegetable Garden - The basic needs for any plants are sun, good soil, regular watering (by you or nature or both), and nutrients. If you provide these things, the plants will usually stay healthy enough to fight off diseases and infections. They really are like people!
  • Think Vintage for Your Garden - Container gardeners take note. Tired of clay pots? Think vintage, because when you do, there’ll be lots to choose from. Most likely vintage items will be worn and chipped which will only add charm to your garden.
  • Welcoming Herbs Into Your Vegetable Garden - Many garden books recommend that gardeners plant their herbs close to the kitchen for quick and easy harvest. While this is good advice, the reality may be that it isn’t practical to your particular situation.
