  • Back to School Breakfasts - Quick and Easy - It's back-to-school, or homeschooling time! Whichever way you are going with your kids, schooltime means back to a structured schedule and back to the morning routine of gearing up for the day! Get the kids and yourself off to the right start with a cheap, delicious, home-cooked breakfast.
  • Developing a Price Book - A price book is simply a list of the items you use regularly and the best prices they sell for in the stores where you are willing to shop. It is an excellent tool for tracking prices, sales and buying opportunities. Prices in a price book should be listed by cost per unit so you can easily compare different size packages from different stores. When you see a deal in the weekly flyer or in the store, you will know instantly if it is really a good deal and worth your time to go out and purchase. Just because an item is on sale doesn't automatically make it a good buy. The regular price at some stores may be less than the sale price at others. Your price book is an invaluable tool to help you determine if a sale is really a deal.
  • Easy Boneless Chicken - One of the easiest ways to save money on groceries is to purchase the meat which is on sale each week. Of course, if you buy 5 to 10 pounds of the same meat how can you fix meals that will be different, and yet take advantage of that huge sale price?
  • Fun Fruit Shakes - Milk shakes for breakfast? Treats do not have to be expensive or unhealthy to be good! These fruit shakes can be eaten for breakfast, snack or a refreshing dessert. They can be tailored to any dietary needs and take just minutes to make. Sound too good to be true? You be the judge!
  • Homemade Easy Bake Oven Mixes - Q: My daughter loves her Easy Bake Oven, but the mixes go for about $5.00 each. Is there a cheaper way? A: I agree with you. There has to be a cheaper way to make cakes and cookies than buy their mixes. So we have a collection of recipes for doing it ourselves.
  • Homemade Pudding Mixes - My family really enjoys Jell-O pudding. I know there has to be a way to make our own and save some money. Do you have a recipe for pudding? See what our expert had to say.
  • Pot Roast Chicken - Having chicken tonight? Are you planning on popping it into the oven, boiling some potatoes, and warming up a can of vegetables? That's what I would have done myself, especially when the clock said 4:30 and dinner is supposed to be at 6! Yikes!
  • Quick Breads - Quick breads are easy, delicious and perfect for holiday hostess gifts, before dinner treats or after school snacks. They can be double wrapped with foil and frozen for two months also. The following recipes are some of our family favorites.
  • Slushies - Kool-Aid packages and ice turn into a refreshing summer treat for all the kids, and mom and dad too! Break out that blender!
  • Summer Treats: Popsicles for Pennies! - You can make popsicles inexpensively and deliciously out of all kinds of wonderful things. All you need are some popsicle molds and something sweet to put in them. Pick up the popsicle molds at garage sales or thrift stores for even bigger savings!
  • The Art of Freezing Food - Freezing is a quick, easy way to store food for future use. By using the proper methods to prepare your food for the cold temperatures, you will ensure the highest quality in the finished product. This can make a big difference between dry unappetizing dishes and those that are as good as freshly made.
  • What To Do With Ham - We tend to think of a whole boneless ham as a holiday meat. But it can be a real money saver and a lower fat meat for your family. You can get whole hams for anywhere from $1.89 to as low as $1.00 a pound if you really watch the sales.
