Traveling With Pets- Traveling with a pet can be one of life's great joys (think John Steinbeck in Travels with Charley). If you don't plan well, however, it can also mean misery and discomfort for you, your pet or both. Keep these handy tips in mind when traveling with animals so everyone enjoys the journey.
Used Dog - Free To Good Home- We often hesitate to adopt a dog from the Humane Society
because we figure we don't know what we're getting into
adopting somebody else's used dog. We assume that if the
dog is at the pound, there must be a reason.
Visiting Children and Your Dog- Gordo is a great dog with kids. In fact, just this morning, he and I visited three preschool classes to present dog-safety workshops where he gracefully allowed 36 3- and4-year-olds to pet him only a few hours ago. Because I am a dog trainer, we visit schools regularly as a community service.
So why is he napping in his crate while one 6-year-old visitor is here?
Volunteer! Lend a Hand for Animals- Volunteering your time is one of the best ways to help animals. Whether you walk dogs at your shelter, stuff envelopes for an educational mailing, or assist with a fund-raising event, you can make a difference in the lives of animals.
What type of pet should we get for our kids?- We have three children, ages 8, 5 and 3. We would like to get a pet but am not sure if we should get a cat or a dog. Any suggestions on the type of pet, how to teach the children respect for the animal, and any other advice is welcome!
