  • Choosing Exercise Equipment You'll Actually Use - One of the keys to success as a home-based exerciser is to know yourself. Before you spend even one penny on exercise equipment, ask yourself a few questions and think long and hard about the answers.
  • Decisions, Decisions - Why is a desire to get fit usually accompanied by a need to spend money? "I'm going to get fit," we say, and promptly rush out and spend a fortune on gadgets for abs, gadgets for buns, gadgets for the total body. And all it ever takes is "three easy payments." Getting fit, we fail to realize, does not have to go hand in hand with going broke.
  • Don't Make Time, Make Changes - There are ways to fit exercise into even the busiest day. But unlike those who glibly exhort you to "make time" (don't they make you want to bench press them into the nearest lake?) I'm going to show you how to adapt your workout to fit your schedule, not the other way around.
  • Getting Started With The Right Attitude - Two philosophies get me through my days. The first is that exercise is a part of my life. It's not the most important part, by any means. Like brushing my teeth, it's something I do regularly and frequently but not something I obsess about. I do it for the shape of my body and I do it for my health. And yes, my reasons come in that order! If I exercise to stay slim and the side-effect is that my heart, lungs and muscles stay strong and healthy, why worry if my primary motivation is shameless vanity? I use what I can.
  • Holidays & Exercise - This month I was all set to help you plan your own home-based exercise program. One you could live with. One that would truly work. Then it hit me. The full brunt of the holiday season.
  • How To Keep Going, When Motivation Takes A Hike - What's the hardest thing about exercising at home? If you're anything like me, it's simple lack of motivation. Before I became a mother, I belonged to a gym. No matter how ambivalent I felt, I knew all I had to do was get myself there and the instructor would take over. Even if I was planning a weight training session, just being at the gym surrounded by other fit and sweating bodies was enough to re-energize me.
  • Muscle Making Machines - What To Buy, What To Avoid - Fitness equipment, you've probably realized, is big business. Do a little channel surfing and soon enough you'll see an infomercial promoting the latest in miracle machines. And just like all the others, its spokespeople will be trying to impress upon you just how easy and effective it is.
  • The Key To Great Abs - The lower abdominals. The part of a man's body which has a tendency to become 'paunchy' and hang over the belt, and on women, the part that just refuses to snap back into shape long after the baby has been born.
