Chinese Red Lantern

Chinese New Year ends with a traditional Lantern Festival. Make your very own Chinese lantern and decorate it with glittery gold or whatever you choose! Hang your creation for all to see.
What You Need
2 foam cups
red acrylic paint
gold glitter glue
white craft glue
gold glitter
chenille stem
scissors
goldenrod felt

What you do
Cut the chenille stem in half. Insert ends into the bottom of one of the foam cups for the hanger. reach inside the cup and bend the ends to secure. Glue the two foam cups together, mouth to mouth. Let dry. Paint the foam cups red. Repeat for additional coats as needed. let dry completely. Cut a piece of golden rod felt, about 5″ x 3″. Fringe the ends with scissors by cutting thin slits from the long end of the felt. Decorate the cups with gold glitter glue and let dry completely. Once the cups are dry, glue the fringed felt around the bottom of your lantern, gtrim to fit if needed. Hang!
